| Regional museum Cheb is one of many interests of the town Cheb (Eger). It is situated in lower part of the square in so caled Pachelbel’s house, where the museum has been located since its foundation in 1873. In 1956 the museum exposition was extended of a so caled Kriegelstein‘ s house. In spite of its later construction works, Pachelbel’s house belongs to the best preserved gothic houses in Cheb. It become famous mainly because ot the tragedy of the duke Albrecht of Wallenstein, generalissimus of imperial army, who was murdered here in February 1634. Especially items of duke’s personal equipment belongs to jewels of the museum collections. Those are ceremonial riding saddles, Wallenstein’s horse, riding boots, duke’s portraits. On the second floor there is a portrait Wallenstein picture gallery. |

| The museum exposition presents history of the town Cheb and Cheb region. To the most precious exhibits belong Cheb antependium, romanesque embroidery of Cheb nuns of the order of Saint Claire, Cheb gothic and baroque sculptures, medieval panel paintings, fire arms of Cheb gunmakers, tools of the last Cheb executor Karl Huss, citizen’s furniture and exposition of bicycles made to the 90s of the last century in Cheb. Many gravestones are placed in the courtyard, the collection of ceramics is located in the cellarage. |

| Regional museum Cheb with the collection of 80, 000 items, regional reserch workplace, extensive documentation of history of the town Cheb and Cheb region belong to important museum institution in the Czech Republic. Regional reserch centre with a wide learned library is in service for people interested in regional history. The partners of Regional museum Cheb in over-frontier projects are Bavarian museums, especially Fichtelbirgsmuseum in Wunsiedel. |

| Regional museum administers also Cheb castle, the only Emperor’s residence (welt) in our territory which was biult by Friedrich Barbarossa of the family of Staufs. Besides palace, Black Tower, baroque casemates, visitors are most interested in Romanesque-Gothic chapel of St. Erhard and Ursula. Archaelogical exposition of the early history of the town is situated in the space of casemates. In the exposition of stoves you can see impresive Cheb stoves by sculptor Willi Russ from the years 1941-1942. |
